Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Nineteenth-century French crystal chandeliers typically feature cast gilt-bronze or brass armatures adorned with hand-cut crystal drops, rosettes, and pendeloques. Design influences often draw from Louis XV rococo or Louis XVI neoclassical styles, balancing cast metalwork with reflective glass elements.

Classic French chandeliers were constructed using heavy gilt-bronze or brass frames combined with lead crystal or cut glass prisms. Metal components were chased by hand, and crystal pieces were pinned or wired individually onto the frame to maximize light refraction.

Authentic pieces can be identified by hand-chased metalwork, minor irregularities in hand-cut glass prisms, and signs of historical conversion from wax candle sockets to electrical fittings. True period lighting displays natural patination or wear on the gilded surface rather than uniform modern electroplating.

A traditional crystal chandelier functions as a central focal point above a dining table, in an entrance hall, or over a living room seating area. Pairing detailed historical lighting with minimalist modern furniture creates a balanced contrast in contemporary spaces.

Clean individual crystal drops using a soft, lint-free cloth slightly dampened with distilled water and isopropyl alcohol. Dust gilded bronze surfaces gently with a dry microfibre brush, avoiding harsh chemical cleaners that could strip the original gilded finish.
