Description

Antique Doxa goliath pocket watch.

The watch has a Swiss made stem-winding movement, identified as by Doxa, which is working nicely. The movement carries the Swiss brevet (patent) number 33236 is for a ‘watch movement with large power reserve’. The patent was registered to Georges Ducommun (Doxa) in 1905. The movement is protected by an inner hinged cover.

The watch measures 64mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The Swiss case is stamped as being ‘argentan’ which is a copper alloy that contains nickel and zinc, and is also known as nickel silver or German silver. The case has the odd minor mark but overall is in good condition.

The glass lens is in good condition.

The dial has its original blued steel hands, a sunken subsidiary dial and outer minute markers. There are a couple of hairlines but they are faint.

The watch comes in a new presentation box.
