Royal Garter Plate, Windsor Castle 1880'S

Description

Original Victorian Dinner Banquet Plate from the "Royal Order of the Garter" in Windsor Castle.

It bears the motto of the Garter 'Honi soit qui mal pense' in the middle of the plate and has Rococo style blue Borders.

This plate was made by Coalport in the 1880's and retailed by Nixon & Son in Windsor and after decommissioning given to Royal staff members in Windsor Castle for loyal service.

While the emblem of the Order is faded the plate is generally in good condition with no cracks or chips and a pristine back stamp. The plate measures ca 24 cm in diameter.
