Extremely rare George II Malacca wood and gold plated copper walking stick or cane that dates to C1750.
Hand decorated copper cylindrical collar with hand punch decoration. The top is a contrasting hard wood. Matching wrist strap holes set into the shaft.
Mounted on a Malacca shaft with it''s original elongated brass and steel ferrule to the base which is 10 cm 4 inches long.
It measures 92.4 cm 36 3/8 inches in length, the pommel is 3.7 cm 1 7/16 inch wide and the collar is 1 9/16 inches 4 cm long.
It''s in excellent condition but with some very minor signs of age and use as you''d expect at 274 years old.
Minor surface marks on the copper but no holes, splits or repairs.
The wrist strap hole surrounds are in good condition.
The grade one Malacca shaft is excellent with no damage or repairs. Being a fibrous wood it''s strong but light weight.
Truly remarkable for a cane of this age.
