The architectural sconces are also embellished with arches that contain alternating figures of old women and young maids with flowers. The stem is modelled as a scrolling leaf with a naked putto cherub and the leaf-capped handle is set Pan playing the flute, and leaning against a seashell thumbpiece.

The entire body is further decorated with embossed and incised scrolls, shells, foliage and Arabesque panels.

The candlesticks have been tested in a stationary XRF spectrometer as 960 silver which is just higher than 958 Britannia. The highest official standard of silver in Germany and Austria was 935, but as the prices of silver dropped significantly between 1894 and 1915, silver objects would often have higher content than the official requirements.

Excellent antique condition. Small scratches and minor wear appropriate to age; two leaves underneath the sconces have small soldering marks; one sconce has a soldering mark on the side.
