Webberley Antiques has dated this piece to the 1860s.

From a local estate and clearly always well cared for, the six chairs were made by the same hand and all of the spindles, the front and side stretchers, legs and rails are beautifully turned and joined and have developed a rich colour and warm patina.

Old dings and marks, small knocks and losses to the feet and to one of the front stretchers which has lost part of its central globe turning – all just normal wear from daily use over generations and these are very old and honourable scars with patination and smoothed by time.
A lovely and true set of 19th century spindle backs.
