Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Yomut Turkmen horse covers, historically known as at-khelyi, were crafted by nomadic Turkmen tribes in Central Asia during the 19th and early 20th centuries. These tailored textiles were designed specifically for horses during ceremonial occasions, weddings, and tribal processions to signify status and honour.

Traditional Turkmen horse trappings were handwoven using locally sourced hand-spun sheeps wool for both the warp and pile. Natural vegetable and mineral dyes created rich terracotta reds, indigo blues, and madder tones, often trimmed with woollen tassels and cotton details.

Authentic 19th-century Turkmen textiles exhibit soft, hand-spun wool and natural dye colour variations known as abrash. Look for distinct tribal motifs such as geometric vertical stripes or gols, finely hand-twisted fringe borders, and tailored shaping designed to fit horse saddles or necks.

Antique horse blankets are frequently mounted on linen backgrounds or suspended from wooden rods to serve as dramatic wall art. Their unique shape and geometric patterns also allow them to be draped over bench backs, consoles, or decorative display ladders.

Preserve antique wool textiles by keeping them out of direct sunlight to prevent colour fading and maintaining low relative humidity to prevent mould. Regular gentle suction with a soft brush attachment removes dust, while professional conservation cleaning is recommended for delicate or historic pieces.
