This is a Georgian, English, light baluster wine glass dating from the early to mid 18th century, c1740.
The glass is in excellent condition for its age. This means, of course, that it shows age related wear and tear to the base commensurate with some 250+ years of use.
The glass has a heavy bottomed trumpet-shaped bowl measuring 6.3 cm (2.5 inches) in diameter at the rim. The bowl is plain and sits on a baluster stem consisting of a short shoulder drop knop, and a small basal knop. The stem leads to a conical, folded foot which measures 7.5 cm (3 inches) in diameter and displays a rough pontil mark. The glass is 15.5 cm (6.2 inches) in height. There are no chips, cracks, significant scratches or any obvious evidence of restoration. There is a tiny white inclusion in the metal of the bowl and some roughness around the top of the shoulder knop where the glass blower fashioned it using his pucellas.
It is made from English lead metal weighing in at 140 g. (~ 5 oz.).
