Victorian Mahogany Side Cabinet

19th century
Description

Victorian Mahogany side Cabinet.

This Quality Side Cabinet Stands Upon a Plinth base.

Having 2 Arched panelled Doors Which Feature Wonderful Flame Mahogany Timbers.

Flame mahogany, also known as crotch mahogany, is a highly prized type of mahogany veneer characterized by its distinctive wavy or flame-like grain pattern. This unique pattern is created when the wood is cut from the junction of a branch with the trunk, or from the crotch of the tree. The result is a striking, dramatic figure that appears to undulate across the surface of the wood, resembling the flickering of flames.

Above the Doors are 2 Mahogany Lined Drawers Which are of a Cushion Form.

Cushion-shaped drawers are a distinctive feature in furniture design, particularly popular in the 17th and 18th centuries. These drawers are characterized by their convex, rounded fronts, resembling the shape of a cushion. This design element adds a unique and decorative dimension to furniture, creating a sense of depth and elegance.
