Collinge Antiques has dated this piece to the 1880s.
Featuring images of children playing with boulle and a spinning top on the backs whilst the seats feature two scenes from the fables of the 17th-century French poet Jean de La Fontaine; The Wolf and the Lamb and The Wolf and the Stork. Each of the scenes within a border of swagged cloth and floral garlands and signed in the weave. Raised on tapering turned and fluted legs front and rear. Presented as found, the tapestry a little faded and with obvious wear to the gilding but otherwise in very good condition, solid and sturdy and firm springs in the seats.
