A fine quality longcase clock with a nautical scene made by R Sweeper of romsey Hampshire dated to around 1750 in perfect working order fully serviced including new natural gut (cat gut) stringing for the weights. The eight day four pillar movement has a striking mechanism striking a single bell on the hour, a seconds dial and a date aperture. The engraved silvered dial has an engraved scene of battle ships in action. The weights & pendulum are the originals.
The hood is in very good original condition, the door works perfectly on its original pin hinges it also has the original glass.
The clock keeps very good time. The original winding key is made of steel brass & ebony
The figured flame mahogany clock case is the original case for the works. The case is in excellent original condition throughout. The door has the original hinges & working lock with key.
