STUNNING 19thc FRENCH ORMOLU & CRANBERRY PORCELAIN 8-DAY GARNITURE MANTLE CLOCK
 
Brief Description:
 
This stunning, elegant 19th-century French 3-piece Garniture Clock Set includes the three fabulous original giltwood carved serpentine stands.
 
The gorgeous-looking piece presents in wonderful original condition, with magnificent gilt metal mounts, cranberry porcelain Urns and Pilasters, and hand-painted Sevres style porcelain panels that depict a young courting couple and continental landscapes.
 
It is fitted with a fully working French 8-day movement that chimes on a bell every half hour.
 
The piece has a hand-painted porcelain cranberry clock dial with Roman numerals.
 
The superb gilt metal case is embellished with figural masks, swallow birds and lion paw feet.
 
The three original serpentine-shaped carved and gadrooned giltwood bases are exceptional, retaining most of the original gold leaf.
 
A wonderful presentation plaque is present on the central stand.
 
The plaque states the timepiece was given as a wedding gift in 1890 to a newly married couple from Holyhead, Anglesey, Wales.
 
Both the pendulum and a working key are present.
 
A truly lovely example.
