Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Serpent imagery became widely popular during the Victorian era after Prince Albert presented Queen Victoria with a snake engagement ring. The motif symbolised eternal love, wisdom, and infinity, frequently featured in fine pendants and rings throughout the late nineteenth century.

Victorian fine jewellery relied on high-purity gold, silver-topped gold, and emerging platinum settings. Natural saltwater pearls and rose-cut or old European-cut diamonds were routinely combined with accent gemstones such as rubies for details.

Authentic period pieces exhibit hand-finished stone settings, characteristic metal patination, and irregular baroque pearl structures. Gemmological testing confirms natural saltwater origin versus cultured pearls introduced in the early twentieth century.

A Victorian motif pendant serves as an accent piece suspended from a fine chain, pairing effectively with minimalist contemporary necklines or layered alongside modern platinum and white gold necklaces.

Natural pearls require protection from acids, perfumes, and cosmetics. Clean gently with a soft dry cloth, store separately in a fabric-lined pouch, and avoid exposure to excess moisture or harsh chemicals.
