A cute Victorian winged scarab brooch in solid silver with lovely bright cornflower blue enamel. The bottom of the wings are plique-a-jour enamel which creates a pretty stained-glass window effect as the light shines through.Scarab beetles represent immortality and resurrection, growth and development. There was a massive revival of interest in all things Egyptian during the 19th century in the Victorian Egyptian Revival period.Marked 800 (silver fineness).
