Antique Field Telescope, English, Terrestrial, Starboy, Broadhurst Clarkson & Co

1900 - 1920
Description

This is an antique field telescope. An English, brass terrestrial and astronomical 'Starboy' tripod mounted refractor by Broadhurst, Clarkson & Co, dating to the early 20th century, circa 1920.

Perfect for bird watching, landscape appreciation, wildlife stalking, or maritime observation. Equally suitable for observing the night sky.

Impressive Starboy model, replete with a superb tripod and accessories in a quality case

Displays a desirable aged patina throughout

Striking brass brightwork presented in eye-catching, original order

Body unmarked as such, but almost certainly by the renowned Broadhurst, Clarkson and Co. of London

Being a terrestrial model, the image is displayed 'right way up' through the eyepiece

Large 3.25'' primary objective lens affords a bright image through the scope

Single draw tube extends smoothly, focused by knurled wheel moving an internal rack and pinion

Spotting scope parallel to the barrel, with crosshair reticule

Supplied with a parallel viewing tube, accessory eyepieces and period information sheets

The above accessories fit neatly within the locking case — key present

Broadhurst maker's mark to the 'Star Diagonal' angle viewer and Comet eyepiece

Swan neck tripod collar rotates through 360 degrees, small degree of tilt achieved upon the telescope mounts

Telescope counter balances to the horizontal plane when attached

Independent legs allow the tripod to sit at a height suitable for individual needs

This is a delightful antique field telescope, an appealing example of Broadhurst, Clarkson & Co's Starboy line of terrestrial and astrological scopes. Ideal for observing the horizon or the night sky in comfort. Delivered ready to be enjoyed.
