Georgian Multi Spiral Air Twist Wine Glass, Everted Bowl, Medial Knop
£355 $466 €426
This is a scarce Georgian, multi spiral air twist wine glass dating from the middle of the 18th century, c1750.
The glass is in excellent condition for its age. It shows age related wear and tear to both the rim of the bowl and to the rim of the foot commensurate with some 250 years of use. It has a rough pontil mark on the underside of the foot.
The glass has an ogee-shaped bowl measuring 5.7 cm (2.3 inches) in diameter at the everted rim. The bowl is flute moulded to the lower half. The bowl sits on a multi spiral air twist stem with medial knop. The stem ends in a conical foot which measures 7.2 cm (2.9 inches) in diameter. The glass is 15 cm (6 inches) in height. There are no chips, cracks, significant scratches or any obvious evidence of restoration. An unusual combination of an everted bowl rim and a medial knop on a multi spiral air twist stem.
Lead glass weighing in at 140 g. (~ 5 oz.).
