Puckerings has dated this piece to the 1920s.

The crystal is topped with a sterling silver hinged lid, fitted with a wonderful domed piece of period tortoise shell with stunning markings, colours ranging from golden champagne to rich chocolate brown; the patina is beautifully glossy.
The inkwell chamber retains it's original glass liner.
This firm was founded in London by William Grey in 1876 and from 1886 to 1936 was active under the name of Grey & Co. Grey & Co were noted for their novelties in silver and supplied retail establishments such as the top-notch Asprey & Co. (London).
Superb condition, measuring 3" x 3" x 2 1/2" tall.
