Seed pearl jewellery became fashionable in the late Georgian period and these natural pearls (2mm or less and varied in shape due to natural sourcing) were intricately crafted into all manner of jewellery such as necklaces, earrings and even tiaras.
Traditionally in such times, jewellery was often associated with symbolic meanings and seed pearls were usually associated with innocence and purity. As such, this necklace could serve as the perfect gift for a young lady on their 18th birthday or as a versatile and understated yet elegant accoutrement to have in one's collection.
