Gillers Antiques Ltd has dated this piece to the 18th Century.
The rich gilding of the lid with a gold handle and the handle of the cup itself is particularly notable. An extraordinary delicate cup. The artist has richly decorated it with delicate floral compositions. Magnificent gilding and use of gold paste for decoration. Delightful work of the master. The piece polychrome painted and ornamentally gilded, colors are bright and vibrant. The paint is preserved completely; the gilding is good with some minor wear. Royal Crown Derby, founded in 1750, is the only one of the world famous prestigious historic brands still manufactured in the UK. In 1775, George III allowed his crown to be inscribed on the factory's seal, a sign of recognition of quality. In 1890 Queen Victoria did the same. It is also worth noting that Queen Elizabeth visited the factory on 27 June 1949. Royal Crown Derby products are on display in a number of museums - such as the Victoria and Albert Museum and Derby Museum and Art Gallery.
