Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

George IV period furniture, dating from 1820 to 1830, bridges the Regency and William IV eras. It is characterized by robust proportions, high-quality timber such as mahogany and rosewood, architectural lines, and decorative elements like ebonised turnings and carved legs.

Tables from this period were predominantly constructed using solid or veneered mahogany, frequently accented with ebonised wood details or brass inlays. Internal structural elements often utilised secondary woods such as pine or oak.

Authentic pieces feature period-correct joinery such as hand-cut dovetails, evidence of hand-planing on underside surfaces, natural wood shrinkage over time, and original turned legs with age-appropriate wear to the finish.

A bowfront side table functions effectively as an entryway console table, a focal point in a hallway, or an accent piece behind a sofa. Pairing dark mahogany timber with modern artwork or clean-lined lamps provides balanced visual contrast.

Maintain timber by dusting regularly with a soft dry cloth and applying a high-grade beeswax polish once or twice a year. Keep the item away from direct sunlight, radiators, and areas of high humidity to prevent timber warping or veneer lifting.
