Vintage 2.80ct Emerald, 1.75ct Ruby, 2.10ct Sapphire, 0.26ct Diamond and 18ct Gold Window Brooch by Gubelin Circa 1950

1940 - 1960
For Sale by AC Silver
Description

A stunning, impressive and unusual vintage 2.80 carat emerald, 1.75 carat ruby, 2.10 carat sapphire and 0.26 carat diamond, 18 carat yellow gold and 18 carat white gold window brooch made by Gubelin; part of our diverse gemstone jewellery and estate jewelry collections.

This stunning and unusual vintage brooch has been crafted in 18ct yellow gold and 18ct white gold settings.

The brooch has been modelled in the form of a window with flowers, behind a wrought iron grille.

The anterior portion of the brooch is embellished with an impressive 18ct white gold pierced decorated frame, replicating the curvilinear scrolling ornamental grille of the window.

This finely crafted vintage brooch is embellished with five sapphires, ten rubies and six emeralds; each individually set mixed cut gemstone bears carved details replicating the organic details of the floral spray.

The gemstones array incorporates impressive individually claw set transitional modern brilliant round cut diamonds.

The spray is further embellished with two claw set round faceted cut yellow gemstones*, providing further visual dynamic to the piece and completing the design.

This floral brooch secures to the reverse with a hinged double pin and push fit clasp.

The reverse of the frame is hallmarked with the 18ct gold mark (750) and the maker's mark (Gubelin); this brooch is an exceptional example, as to be expected with items crafted by this renowned goldsmith.

This stunning multi-gemstone brooch is supplied with an IDGL diamond and gemstone grading report card.

Such unusual gemstone brooches are rare to the market.

NOTE: * Due to the nature of the caged grille design these yellow gemstones could not be identified or measured by a gemologist without disrupting the original gold frame; it has been determined with the testing available that these are citrines, with a strong probability.

Images do not always reflect the true colour and brilliance of gemstones and diamonds. The video however provides a truer representation of the actual colour and showcases each stone.

Condition

This stunning Gubelin gemstone brooch is exceptional quality, set with impressive emeralds, rubies and sapphires displaying fine colour, brilliance and presence.

The high colour graded diamonds display a fine white colour and brilliance.

The brooch is an exceptional gauge of gold and is in exceptional condition, with very clear hallmarks to the reverse of the setting.

Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this stunning, unusual rare gemstone brooch.

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

During the 1950s, fine jewellery featured three-dimensional structures, architectural themes, and creative combinations of carved coloured gemstones set in multi-tone precious metals.

High-grade pieces from this era predominantly incorporate 18ct yellow gold, white gold or platinum accents, along with natural carved rubies, emeralds, sapphires, and accent diamonds.

Authentic Gubelin items feature distinct maker marks, precise gold purity hallmarks, exceptional gemstone setting craftsmanship, and high-quality stone carvings characteristic of the Swiss house.

A multi-gemstone brooch can be pinned to a tailored blazer lapel, secured onto a silk scarf, or attached to a coat for a structured focal point.

Clean settings using a soft-bristled brush and lukewarm soapy water, avoiding ultrasonic cleaners that might compromise carved or micro-set gemstones.
