A very large, decorative and striking Edwardian sterling silver jewellery box of rectangular form with Victorian style decoration. The lid has a musician and 2 ladies in a country setting to the centre. The inside has been felt lined to protect the jewellery from scratching.
Fully hallmarked Sterling silver, 1903 Birmingham.
Makers mark of Henry Matthews.
It is in a very good condition for its age with the decoration still being quite defined and crisp.
The hinge is in good working order.
Some light surface wear that is noticeable on a close inspection.
The inside has been wonderfully fitted with a new velvet lining to protect the jewellery.
The last photograph shows where a rear corner has been bruised.
29.5cm by 16cm.
6.5cm height.
1085 grams.
A superb sterling silver jewellery box that will hold a very good amount of jewellery.
