Antique Japanese Silver Tortoiseshell Box Meiji Period

A splendid Japanese Meiji period pure silver box & cover, of rectangular form the lid is decorated with a central oval tortoiseshell cartouche flanked by applied leaves either side, chiseled with a ho-ho bird by a bamboo tree. This fine box is marked on the underside with a wood lined interior and is in excellent overall condition measuring 3 ½ inches in length.
