Antique Primitive Furniture 18thc Elm, Ash & Fruitwood Armchair. English C1770-90.

Sold by: Mark Seabrook Antiques

A fine example of a late 18thc country primitive ''joyned'' armchair....it is made out of ash, elm and fruitwood and joined by peg construction....the top of the ash legs are spliced through with wedges as they come through the thick elm seat, typical of west country and welsh furniture construction.....the arms and splats are made of finest fruitwood......it has gained a wonderful colour and patina.....I particularly like the early ''working'' repair to the end of one arm....in overall excellent condition.

English. C1770-90.
