This is an exceptionally rare Signed Original Japanese Triptych Watercolour Portrait Painting comprising four individual Japanese figures, painted by two different listed Japanese artists!

Tsutuya Ryuko, Japanese (1868-1933)

Dating Circa 1920-1930, the fascinating portrait paintings portray two Japanese female farmhands and a young mother carrying her small infant child.

All three portraits are signed, and the artwork is mounted within its original gilt and glazed frame.

Artist Biography:

Takashi Nakayama (1893-1978) was a Japanese watercolourist, who worked in a style that combined influences from traditional Japanese ukiyo-e prints and Western painting. His son Tadashi Nakayama (1927-2014) was also an artist and woodblock printmaker, and the two are often confused due to the similarity of their signatures.
