EXQUISITE 18thc GEORGE II WALNUT & HERRINGBONE INLAID KNEEHOLE DESK OF MAGNIFICENT PATINA
 
Brief Description:
 
This is a truly exquisite quality early 18th-century George II Period Figured Walnut Kneehole Writing desk.
 
The exceptionally attractive piece has one of the finest aged, rich, patinations we have encountered!
 
The piece has a quarter-veneered desktop with a Herringbone inlay surround.
 
With 7 working drawers, together with a kneehole cabinet safe, the piece retains all of the original quality 18th-century brass handles and lock escutcheons.
 
The beautiful raised drawer panels are embellished with Herringbone inlay with thick, period cross-banded veneering.
 
The whole is raised upon fabulous and impressive ogee bracket feet which extend to the kneehole section.
 
It is a high-quality, very honest piece with merely several small areas of veneer loss and two of the original lock mechanisms'' are missing.
 
You will not find a desk of such outstanding colouration and patina.
 
Note: There is a working key present for the kneehole cupboard safe.
