Fabulous Cased Pair of Victorian Silver Salt Cellars & Matching Spoons by George Unite, Birmingham 1882

Description

These exquisite Victorian solid silver shell-shaped salts & matching spoons bears the marks of the renowned George Unite and are dated Birmingham 1882. Each salt having an embossed textured body in the form of a shell raised on three dolphin feet. They come with their matching apostle barley twist salt spoons, same maker, same dates, a rare occurence as spoons are usually lost and later replaced. Presented in the original and rather splendid case.

Hallmarks:

G.U for George Unite.

Birmingham Assay Mark.

Lion Passant.

Duty Mark

Date letter "h" for 1882.

Condition:

Very good

No dings or dents.

Gilt still present but very pale.

Dimensions and Weight:

Height up to handle: 3.5cm / 1.42inches.

Width: 5.5cm / 3.2 inches.

Depth: 5.5cm / 3.2 inches

Combined weight: 34 g / 1.1 oz.
