Sold by: The Vintage Wrist Watch Company

Gents Omega Seamaster wrist watch, 1956.

UK POSTAGE ONLY FOR THIS ITEM

The watch has a calibre 284 17-jewel hand-winding movement which is working nicely. The movement is fully signed and it has the serial number 15,813,212 which dates it back to 1956.

The watch measures 36mm diameter excluding the signed Omega winding crown and the lugs. The case is gold capped which means a generous layer of 14k gold has been applied to the front and sides of the case and the bezel is solid 14k gold. It was said that the gold capping was so thick that it could hold its shape when not fitted to the case and apparently the salesman used to carry a sample of just the gold capping to demonstrate how strong it was. The case is in lovely condition with just the odd small mark, nothing serious at all. General light surface marking to the case back.

The inside of the case back is signed with the triangular Omega logo, together with the case reference 2938-1 SC which is correct for the calibre 284 movement.

The lens is in good condition with just some light marking visible through a magnifying loupe.

The signed dial is in its original finish which has developed an aged patina. Original hands (some of the infill has come out over the years), centre seconds hand and outer minute markers.

A new leather strap has been fitted.

The watch comes in a new presentation box.
