Antique Longcase Clock Cohen Redruth

Description

A small Cornish mahogany longcase clock. Choice flame veneers and satinwood inlays to the case. A swan-neck hood pediment and brass capped fluted hood columns. An attractive arched painted dial with floral corners and a hunting scene to the arch. Date and seconds indicators. An 8-day duration mechanism striking the hours on a bell.

Emanuel Cohen of Redruth is listed in Miles Brown's 'Cornish Clockmakers' book as born in 1766 and died 1849. Local tradition says he could be seen waiting for sunset on Friday and Saturday evenings to close the shop.

Height 6ft 11 " / 211 cms.
