An Ormolu-Mounted Walnut Centre Table In the Manner of Gillow

Constructed in finely figured Circassian Walnut, cross banded with ebony, and having finely executed marquetry work, and extensive gilt bronze mounts; rising from bronze sabot shod cabriole legs,with conjoining bronze trim to the espagnolettes atop; a serpentine elliptical lobed top of petal form houses a shaped single lockable drawer in the apron, with a bronze keyhole escutcheon.

Several pieces sold by Butchoff Antiques, bearing the stamp of Gillow, exhibit many of the same qualities found in this table such as the figured walnut and the English ormolu typical of their mid-nineteenth century production.
