This clock has a restored decorative brass dial with spandrels to the corners, a matted finish to the dial inner and a silvered chapter ring. This piece is another high quality fantastic Winterhalder and Hofmeier eight day striking movement that strikes the half hour and hour on a single sonorous gong. Original blued hands compliment the overall appearance and the case has extensive carved decoration to the front along with inlaid dentil work, a curved pediment top and turned finials. Winterhalder & Hofmeier were considered the finest clockmakers of the Victorian era and were based in Germany�s Black Forest region. The company was established in 1810 and in 1850 Anton Hofmeier joined the company, who was himself a clockmaker and relative to the Winterhalder family.
