This is an outstanding quality 5 piece silver tea service with a classic streamlined Art Deco form. The whole set has a weight of almost 3.5kg (108 troy. oz.) with each component having a good sturdy feel.
Every piece has an elongated octagonal form with the stepped being iconic for the period. The teapot and jug (for use with either coffee or hot water to re-fill the 2 pint teapot) are fitted with ivory handles and finials and have superbly made flush hinges. The tray is an unusual and most welcome addition to the service: it has two ivory handles and looks fabulous.
All five pieces are fully hallmarked, with clear hallmarks. Edward Barnard & Sons Ltd. They are well know silversmiths and created some high quality Art Deco silver pieces. The entire set is Dated London 1939.
