1920 - 1940
For Sale by AC Silver
Description

A stunning antique 5.63 carat Ceylon sapphire and 1.16 carat diamond, platinum Art Deco cocktail ring; part of our Sri Lankan sapphire rings collection.

This stunning, fine and impressive Ceylon sapphire ring has been crafted in platinum.

The substantial pierced decorated design displays a feature 5.63ct cushion cut blue Ceylon sapphire, four claw set in relief to the centre.

The Sri Lankan sapphire is flanked on either side by three Art Deco style linear arrays embellished with a total of twenty-two pavé set diamonds, in a combination of collet set square cuts and pavé set eight cuts.

The swept ring shoulders integrate with the main setting and blend seamlessly with the plain hallmarked rink shank.

The ring is hallmarked to the interior shank with the platinum fineness mark (Pt900).

This impressive blue sapphire cocktail ring with diamonds is supplied with a sapphire report card and certificate supplied by the Gemmological Certification Services, London*, in addition to an IDGL diamond grading report card.

NOTE: * This documentation accredits the blue sapphire originating in Sri Lanka (Ceylon) and certifies that the gemstone shows no indications of heat treatment.

Images do not always reflect the true colour and brilliance of gemstones and diamonds. The video however provides a truer representation of the actual colour and showcases each stone.

Condition

This antique cocktail ring is excellent quality, set with a stunning Ceylon sapphire displaying fine colour, brilliance and presence.

The impressive high colour graded diamonds display a fine white colour and brilliance.

The ring is an excellent gauge of platinum and is in excellent condition, with a clear hallmark to their interior shank.

Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this fine example of natural sapphire jewellery/estate jewelry.

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Art Deco ring design from the 1920s and 1930s is defined by geometric shapes, bold colourful gemstones such as sapphires or emeralds, structural platinum settings, and precise diamond accenting.

Jewellers during the 1930s predominantly utilised platinum for its strength and neutral backdrop, set with central gemstones like Ceylon sapphires and accented with baguette or single-cut diamonds.

Authentic pieces display hand-crafted geometric mountings, specific era hallmarks or platinum purity stamps, calibre or baguette cut accent diamonds, and openwork under-tiering beneath the central setting.

An antique cocktail ring serves as a standalone statement piece worn on the right hand, contrasting effectively against simple evening wear or tailored monochrome outfits.

Clean gently using lukewarm soapy water and a soft-bristled brush, ensuring the ring is stored separately in a fabric-lined box to protect the gemstones and metal mounting from abrasion.
