Rare A. E. Jones Arts & Craft Silver Jug, Birmingham 1913

1900 - 1920
Description

This is a fabulous and very distinctive Arts & Craft, spot-hammered tall silver jug. It was designed by the celebrated Arts & Craft silversmith A.E. Jones and is dated Birmingham 1913. The bulbous, spot hammered body with applied fruiting leaves under the rim and frieze at the base. The bifurcated handle with ball finial.

Hallmarks:

A.E.J. for A E Jones.

Birmingham Assay Mark.

Lion Passant.

Date letter "o" for 1913.

Pattern number impressed at the base.

Condition:

Excellent.

No dings. No dents. No inscriptions.

Clear hallmarks.

Dimensions and Weight:

Height: 14cm / 5.4 inches.

Length handle to spout:: 13cm / 5.2 inches.

Base diameter: 6.5cm / 2.4 inches.

Weight: 165 g / 5.3 oz.
