Antique Single Fusee Library / Table Clock With Rare Year Going / Running Movement.
This absolutely stunning antique library / table clock has a fantastic case with a beautiful rich colour and grain. The top of the case is shaped leading to a lovely moulding around the top edge. This then leads to the body of the case which is square with each corner inlet slightly with an inlet brass strip. The sides of the case then have thick bevelled glass panels as well as the front and back having glass panels so the movement can be fully viewed. There is then a lovely belled out section which sets it off beautifully and is in the typical library clock style. Finally there is a further moulding leading to the base. The case is also beautifully symmetrical both side to side and front to back which is very rarely seen.
The dial is then silvered and set out in Roman numerals with a thin ring to the outside marking the minutes. The silvered dial then features beautiful engravings. The dial then has a wonderful gilt surround with an array of floral engravings which continue on the bevelled, gilt frame set into the door. Finally the dial is finished by two lovely, shaped blued steel fingers.
The movement is then both wound and accessed from the back. It is ticking away and working as it should and comes complete with its regulating pendulum and winding key. The movement is an extremely rare single fusee example which is year running. Year running clocks are not only extremely rare but almost never found in smaller examples such as this. A typical clock runs for 8 days on one wind showing the exceptional feat of engineering put into this clock.
