Fine George III mahogany secretaire bookcase. Moulded cornice over astragal glazed doors, enclosing adjustable shelves and three lower drawers. The lower section having double locking doors enclosing secretaire drawer, with a leather writing surface and an arrangement of small drawers and pigeon holes, one drawer still retaining one of the original ink wells, Three long drawers below, two half drawers to either side, fitted with brass swan neck handles. The whole piece raised on shaped bracket feet, very unusual and rare to find hidden locking drawer to central carved panel.
The craftmanship of this piece is sublime, attention to detail unsurpassed only seen from the finest of cabinet makers.
