Original Antique ''Bramah & Co'' Fully Restored Luxury safe.
A very rare Bramah & Co safe in a stunning fully restored working condition.
We bring to you this very rare excellent condition ''Bramah'' Patent steel safe made in England attributing the very famous lock maker Bramah & Co of 124 Piccadilly London in around C1850.
Joseph Bramah designed the first unpickable ''Bramah'' lock in 1784, he was so confident in his locks, he held a challenge with prize money for people to try to pick. 64 years later an American locksmith eventually picked the lock after months of research and 51 hours in total of picking spread out over 16 days. The Bramah lock has 18 different wafers, which allows for 470 million possible permutations. These locks were so go od, a well known phrase came into common circulation ''it''s a bramah'' meaning it is as good as you can get.
This fantastic quality and very secure safe is truly a museum piece and has had no expense spared in its full restoration which has been completely carried out in house by ourselves, Lincoln Restorations.
This lovely safe features highly glazed black paintwork featuring a Metallic pearl gold centre panel in the door which is embellished with a ''spun'' real gold leaf edge detail. The door is highly ornate complete with panel pinstripes and the makers name and fire resisting logo skilfully sign-written to the centre. This safe has been fully restored from bare metal, having been stripped and linished to ensure the highest quality refurbishment possible. The lovely original brassware has then been highly polished.
The amazing solid brass handle reminds us of a bolt action rifle as the mechanism is sturdy and has a satisfying latching action in a smoothly working order. The external Bramah lock is working very smoothly with 2 keys and the brass keyhole escutcheon has a lovely sliding lid which elegantly covers the keyhole when not in use.
The inside of the safe has been stripped to bare metal and r
...e painted in a beautiful pearl gold paint to match the exterior design complete with its Joseph Bramah signature to the rear of the door in a pinstriped panel. This safe unusually has a removable top shelf which can be removed for storing larger items if needed. The safe also unusually has 1 wooden internal secure locking drawer which is dovetail constructed from solid Mahogany with a French polished finish, ideal for jewelery/cash and is compete with gold pinstripes to the frontage. This locking drawer has 2 keys for its brass lever lock and features its original polished brass dropper handle and brass keyhole escutcheon.
Our upholstery department has made high quality plush burgundy full grain leather removable liners to the shelves and inside the drawer to keep your valuables and the safe itself protected from scratches or damage when items are stored inside.
We have included 2 automatic LED lights inside the safe which come on when the door is opened or detects movement. The lights are easily removed, have long life Li-ion batteries and are charged simply via their included USB C wire.
This safe is ideal for storing important paperwork, house deeds, birth certificates, passports, cash, jewellery or anything else of value and is obviously very secure. This safe would look fabulous in a loft style apartment or vintage themed home and would certainly be an interesting talking point for guests. This item could also be used as a small coffee table with storage.
Please note; This item is in very good condition for its age but will obviously have the odd blemish and scuff here and there. However, we feel that this adds to the charm and authenticity of the item with it being Antique.
