A Set of 8 Mahogany Carved Dining Chairs
Of the William IV Period
Constructed in a well figured mahogany, rising from sabre legs, the upholstered drop in seats flanked by rising fluted uprights terminating in a shaped tablet toprail, crisply and deeply carved.
Circa 1835
Sabre legs are mostly seen on English dining room furniture between 1800-1840. Owing to the difficulty in constructing a structurally strong and sound sabre leg chair, only the best chair makers produced this design.
