Henry Birtles (1838-1907) HERDSMAN & CATTLE FARMING HIGHLAND LANDSCAPE PAINTING

Brief Description:

This is a wonderful signed original 1881 Victorian Watercolour Painting depicting a lone herdsman standing within an expansive highland landscape with his small herd of highland cows.

Note: This is one painting of a matching pair we sell individually.

It was painted by the listed British artist Henry Birtles (1838-1907).

The wonderful image portrays the cattle drinking from a small stream whilst the farmer rounds them up from behind.

In the distance is a large freshwater loch or lake with a towering mountain range in the distance.

Signed and dated (1881) lower left corner.

Mounted within the original beautiful quality solid reeded oak frames, and protected behind the original glazed panel.
