A fine Derby porcelain Ice Pail, Cover & Liner c.1790. Painted in coloured enamels by EdwardWithers with sprays of flowers and leaves, the pale lilac ground border with gilt line and dentil bands.
 
Crowned crossed batons mark in puce and pattern number 219. Number 8 in puce for the gilder William London. Impressed mark 2A. 
 
According to the Old Derby Pattern Books, pattern 219 is described as follows: ''Gilt dentil edge, below which is a border of uncertain ground colour some what curiously described as '' Distance for Hills 1189''. Centre painted in Handsome Groop of flowers by Withers.''
 
Condition: A small amount of wear to the gilding in places. Fading to one side. Hairline crack through the handle.
