Pair of unusual Staffordshire pottery cats, c. 1860. Modelled as two seated cats, with amusing expressions on their faces. Hand painted with tortoiseshell markings, yellow eyes, curled black tails, and wearing blue collars.
Set upon oval bases, with single gilt lines.
Height – 21 cm, 8 1/4”.
Width – 10.6 cm, 4 1/4”.
Depth – 6.4 cm, 2 1/2”.
Condition – Typical minor wear to overglaze enamel, and the gilt line. No damage. No restoration.
