Gillers Antiques Ltd has dated this Royal Dux Water Nymph Figure to the 1910s.
From the founding of the factory until 1938, 12,000 different models were produced.
The factory, founded in the 1870s by model-drawer Eduard Eichler, was named "Royal Dux" in 1898.
The company's name comes from the Latin word for 'duke', the title of Eichler's father-in-law.
The famous pink triangle with an "E" in the middle first appeared in 1900.
The number '653' stamped on the base suggests that the figure was made in 1912 at the latest.
The figure represents a mythical water nymph with a shell in her hands.
And if some Royal Dux figures are of average quality for the mass market, this sculpture was clearly made to attract the attention of the most demanding connoisseurs.
Such figures were made in extremely limited editions. And it is very difficult to find figures from these limited editions.
It is with pieces like this that Royal Dux has earned its place among the best porcelain factories in the world.
As is often the case with porcelain figurines made by true craftsmen, the accuracy of detail is remarkable.
It is important to note the size of the sculpture - sculptures of this size were usually used to attract the attention of those present in large rooms, in the homes of wealthy people.
