Gustav Klingert originally began as a workmaster for Fabergé and in 1865 he founded his own factory in Moscow employing over 200 artisans earning high praise and reputation, even described as one of the most important firms in Russia, subsequently being granted the Imperial Warrant.
The centre section features the most wonderful scrolled patterns and motifs with a delectable contrast of turquoise, blue, red and white accents.
In spite of what could be a very bland and utilitarian item, such spoons have been decorated and treated as an object of vertu to display a high degree of craftsmanship, artistry and design. Each 'cloison' (the compartment between the twist rope borders) has been meticulously crafted from a fine twisted silver wire and the double border of circular enamel around the edge is such a delicate yet impressionable touch.
Such contrast and artistic juxtaposition between utility and ornamentation is particularly delightful on these pieces and serve as such a wonderful aesthetic contrast in interior settings among other silverware or as a highlighting piece on a table. The colourful enamel and delicacy are almost jewel-like and would also gracefully compliment jewellery collections.
The stem of the spoon features a lovely writhen/twisted design and the bowl of the spoon has a beautiful light 'lemon' gilt tone.
Overall, the quality feel in hand, the intricate silverwork and the colourful enamelling are exemplary and make for both a splendid collectable and display piece of fine 19th c. Russian silverware by a preeminent maker.
The spoon is marked with hallmarks for Gustav Klingert "GK" 84 Zolotnik silver standard and the combined Moscow mark indicating its assaying c.1891 by "AA". A further GK and Moscow mark is present on the neck of the handle.

CONDITION
Great Condition - The spoon is in great antique condition, with no major damage or issues. Some very minor enamel loss in the terminal of the handles, gliding wear and some light surface wear commensurate with age - mentioned for accuracy (last photo).
