Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A mid-19th-century tilt-top table is a small occasional piece featuring a tabletop mounted on a hinged block. This design allows the surface to tilt vertically, enabling flat placement against a wall when not in use.

Furniture from this period often combined decorative palm wood veneers or solid cuts, known for their speckled grain, with structural hardwoods like mahogany or rosewood for the pedestal stem and feet.

Authentic pieces feature period brass snap-latches beneath the tabletop, hand-turned central support pillars, and dovetailed or traditional mortise-and-tenon joints securing the tripod legs to the stem.

Place the table alongside contemporary seating or in a reading nook as an accent surface. The contrast between natural timber patterning and modern upholstery creates balanced visual interest.

Keep the wood away from direct heat sources and harsh sunlight to prevent drying or veneer movement. Apply a high-grade beeswax polish sparingly along the direction of the grain to maintain timber hydration.
