Aesthetic Movement Overmantle Mirror C.1890

19th century
Description

Large late 19th.c. Aesthetic Movement walnut and gilt overmantle mirror with shelves c.1890. Very nearly 5 and a half feet tall, with an overhanging canopy top with a fine carved frieze highlighted in gold. Central mirror plate (27"x46") with bevelled edges, flanked with three small shelves on each side, also with bevelled mirrored back panels, supported on slim turned columns. The carved and gilded detail is continued across the frame and columns. Slight foxing to the mirrors, otherwise excellent condition, cleaned and waxed in our workshops.
