Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A Grand Tour bronze is a scale replica of a classical Greek or Roman statue, created primarily in Italy during the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. These figures were acquired by European aristocrats and travellers undertaking the Grand Tour educational journey across continental Europe.

These sculptures were typically cast using the lost-wax (cire perdue) process, allowing for detailed reproduction of classical originals. Foundries achieved various surface patinations, ranging from dark brown to green, and mounted the figures on integral bronze or marble bases.

Authentic nineteenth-century examples display refined hand-chasing detail, substantial weight, and natural wear to raised areas and base edges. Many were produced by notable Neapolitan foundries such as Chiurazzi or Sommer, sometimes bearing foundry stamps or incised inscriptions.

A dark bronze statuette can be placed on a mantelpiece, bookshelf, or console table to introduce historical texture and classical proportion. Grouping the sculpture alongside hardback books, geometric ceramics, or framed prints creates visual contrast in contemporary spaces.

Preserve the original surface by dusting regularly with a soft, lint-free cloth or camel-hair brush. Avoid chemical cleaners, water, or abrasive polishes, and apply a thin layer of neutral microcrystalline wax annually to protect the patina from atmospheric oxidisation.
