Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A silver vinaigrette is a small ornamental box produced during the late eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, designed to hold an aromatic sponge soaked in vinegar or perfumed oils to counteract unpleasant urban odours.

These items were crafted from sterling silver, frequently finished with a interior or exterior gold wash (silver-gilt) to prevent corrosion from acidic vinegar and to add visual luxury.

Authentic British silver from the William IV era features specific hallmark stamps, including the monarchs profile duty mark facing right, a lion passant standard mark, an assay office symbol, and a year letter code.

Small silver curios are ideally displayed under glass cloches, inside glazed shadow boxes, or styled atop stacked design books on a desk or mantlepiece alongside other metal objects.

Silver gilt requires gentle handling with a soft microfibre cloth; aggressive chemical polishes or abrasive dip solutions must be avoided as they can strip away the thin layer of gold leaf.
