Antique Edwardian Walnut Writing Table.

A fine antique writing table, ideal period hall console table .

We are delighted to bring to you this beautiful Edwardian writing table made around C1890 in Walnut to a superb quality. This fantastic table features its lovely fine dovetail constructed single centre drawer with wild grain Walnut veneer to the centre and is scratch moulded along the top and the bottom. The drawer is complete with its two ornate pierced plate brass polished dropper handles and is ideal for storing laptops or other desk accessories. The rectangular top features its inset Green gold tooled full grain leather desk skiver which is in superb condition.

The desk also is complete with its original lightly faded Walnut colour and rich French polished finish. The table has beautiful detailings throughout such as its scratch moulding which following throughout the aforementioned centre drawer and along the frieze with carved corner brackets to the legs either side of the frontage. The table stands on elegantly turned typical Edwardian styled legs with stretchers between the front and rear legs which terminate to their four original polished brass castors on brown porcelain wheels. This table is in excellent condition, has been cleaned and waxed and is ready to go straight into any home. This table has a variety of different uses either as a hall/console table or as a desk, work table or even as a sofa table. The table is sturdy joints are all tight and is free from joint movement or wobbles.

We believe this table did not start its life in this configuration and has been skilfully adapted from a wash stand, however, its conversion has been done very well only showing some slight evidence to the underside.

This item is in superb condition for its age as shown by the photographs below. Being an antique item of this age there are obviously marks, scratches, dents and old repairs. However, we feel that these points are which adds to its charm and character.
