A fine example of an early 19thc dairy bowl, straight out of the large chateaux /farmhouse....the reason this bowl appears to be French to me...., is that whenever I see bowls like this one with tightly turned rings on the outside, they have always been bought in France, usually by the seller who has sold them to me....also the French were very keen on the readily available fruitwood trees, that were grown in large numbers across the country....but of course I have also bought English bowls that have been turned from fruitwood....but without the tight ring turning.....excellent colour and as you can see from the pictures it has been well used....always pleasing to see..!French.
