A lovely Victorian writing desk, ideal for any period study or office.

We are delighted to offer this great condition Antique Late Victorian (circa 1870s's) Mahogany twin pedestal writing desk of moderate proportions, ideal for any period study or office. This very usable desk is ideal to be used as a desk for a desktop or for a laptop with the bonus of being able to store the folded laptop in the middle drawer. The desk could also be used as a hall or console table as it is narrow and not too intrusive.

This lovely desk features its original lovely lightly faded French polished finish with a nice warm Mahogany colour with patina. This desk also unusually wears its original time-worn blind tooled Burgundy writing desk leather which has beautiful character and patina. We love the leather, however, if this is not to your taste it can be replaced for an additional cost.

The desk has a lovely curved frontage and features 9 finely dovetail constructed descending Mahogany sided drawers complete with its original 2 Mahogany turned knobs per drawer (none broken or missing). The desk is also complete with its original quality Brass locks with brass escutcheons to front, all locks operate perfectly with its original key.

Under the desk pedestals are original castors for ease of movement.

We have sympathetically restored, cleaned and waxed this item to enhance the French polished surface and preserve it for many years to come.

Please note; This item is in great condition for its age as shown by the photographs, however, being an antique item of this age there may be minor blemishes here and there which we feel adds to its originality and heritage of the piece. Also note this desk comes apart into 3 pieces for ease of transport and placing into a room .
